William B. Jones is a Chicago native and a law enforcement officer with more than thirty years of service, much of it in Chicago's most contested neighborhoods.
Licensed to Kill, Not Prepared to Serve, his first book, draws on that career and on research in criminal justice, social psychology and moral philosophy to examine the gap between what the law permits an officer to do and what a moment actually requires.
Jones is the creator of The Mental Dial™, a training framework for law enforcement, and the author of a companion volume, The Encounter: How to Come Home (forthcoming). He is the father of five children.
